Another monster elk came from Utah during the 2006 elk hunt. This is the new state record non-typical muzzleloader bull taken by Greg Holman officially scores 422 4/8 gross and 403 2/8 net B&C. If not for the broken points, this bull would have net scored over 420 B&C.

John Shirk drew a lottery elk tag in his home state of Pennsylvania in 2006 and came home with one of the biggest bulls ever taken by a hunter. This 10×11 point giant scores 457 4/8 gross and 442 7/8 net B&C and is the pending #7 in the world.
Note: After the bull was submitted to Boone & Crockett, the official accepted score is now 444 7/8 gross and 425 2/8 net B&C.

Joey Wyatt and friend Brad Sears both drew a coveted Arizona elk tag for 2006. Even though it was another dry year, Joey was able to locate this bruiser bull while scouting and was fortunate enough to locate him again on the second day of the hunt. Joey’s great archery bull scores 414 gross P&Y.

Aaron Cox was hunting the west desert of Utah with his bow in 2006 and ended up arrowing the new state record archery typical elk. This 6×7 point bull officially scores 404 5/8 gross and 391 net P&Y and beat the old record by a mere half an inch.

Hunting during the 2006 Utah muzzleloader elk season, Doug Degelbeck caught a glimpse of what he thought was a good six point bull and dropped it. Little did Doug know he just smoked not only the state muzzleloader record but also the world record with a score of 417 7/8 gross and 412 7/8 net typical. It is also second largest typical elk ever taken for the state of Utah.

Archery hunting in early September during the 2006 New Mexico elk season, Jeff Sillivent arrowed the smaller of two big bulls he had seen. His “smaller” bull ended up being a monster scoring 415 gross and 403 7/8 P&Y net non-typical as a 7×7.

Big bulls just don’t get any prettier than this amazing new Utah state record from 2006. Ron Skoronski knocked down this late season bull that is now the largest 6×6 point elk in history. This bull officially scores an incredible 434 7/8 gross and 428 6/8 net typical B&C and is also the #4 typical elk in the world.

During the New Mexico 2006 elk hunt in September, this unbelievable 6×6 point elk was arrowed with a recurve by Bill Clark. Sporting amazing 24-inch brow tines, this fair chase, public land bull scores 416 2/8 SCI and is the largest typical elk taken with traditional archery equipment.

This massive bull was taken by Ron Beggs in 2004. This California non-typical scores 430 6/8 SCI and also 404 2/8 net B&C. Carrying a 9×10 point rack, this elk is the third largest bull for the state of California.
