This is a new Washington State record archery elk taken by Jeff Thorpe in 2003. Not only is this the biggest non-typical elk taken with a bow in the state but also one of the top bulls in the world. The elk scores 421 7/8 net P&Y with points reaching out over 23-inches.

Russ Young had a very successful year during the 2003 hunting season. What topped it off was the taking of the highest gross scoring elk ever in Utah at the time. This very unique bull is a 5×8 and scores 434 6/8 gross B&C. The long tines and flaring main beams make this a once in a lifetime bull.

Dan Agnew was hunting the famed San Carlos Apache Reservation in 2003 when he came across this unbelievable 6×6-point bull. Scoring 419 3/8 gross and 410 5/8 net typical B&C, this bull has the longest main beams on record measuring 66 3/8 and 63 3/8-inches.

From his treestand in 2003, Casey Turner had a straight on shot. At this angle, the bull looked to be a nice 350-class elk. However, when the bull turned sideways he realized this was a true monster. Scoring an amazing 418 4/8 gross and 403 net P&Y, this 8×8 Montana bull has just a 31 6/8-inch inside spread.

Brian Gilson drew a coveted Manti elk tag in 2003 and with the help of some friends ended up taking the new Utah state record typical elk. This beautiful 6×6 point elk is the first typical bull to net score over 400 B&C points in the state of Utah. The bull scores 416 gross and 402 4/8 net B&C.

Jess Scott harvested his first bull elk in 2003 which ended up being a monster 420 gross 396 4/8 net non-typical. With three points broken off this bull could have challenged the state record for Utah. It is still the second highest gross scoring bull in the state with great mass and beautiful matching cheater points coming out from each side.

Clay Heuett arrowed this pending world record non-typical elk while hunting Arizona in 2003. This 9×9 bull has it all, scoring 442 6/8 gross and 429 6/8 net B&C. The final score for Pope and Young will be determined in the spring of 2005 at the panel scoring.

After being diagnosed and beating Leukemia, Donald Willden not only had a new look on life but also drew a limited entry elk tag in Southern Utah. With the help of his family and friends, Donald was able to harvest this spectacular elk that scores 418 2/8 gross and 406 6/8 net non-typical in 2003. This 7×7 point elk was the new #2 elk for Utah at the time.

Hunting through a tough drought year in Montana. Chris Faver not only harvested a once-in-a-lifetime bull in September of 2003 with his bow but also a very unique bull with an extra beam on the left side. This 8×6 bull officially scores 423 2/8 SCI and 416 4/8 gross P&Y with 54 inches of abnormal points.

Casey Brooks added another 400 class bull elk to his collection while bowhunting in Arizona in 2003. With incredible mass, tine length pushing 30-inches and a unique cluster of points coming off from his right browtine, this 8×7 bull scores 440 1/8 SCI and 414 net P&Y.
