If you have a mule deer, bull elk, or whitetail deer that is a monster buck or bull, then we definitely want to see it. We are very selective when it comes to what we feature in our King’s Calendars. However, we are very interested in seeing if what you have might be what we are looking for.

Each year we compile 36 new re-creations for our King’s Calendars and are always on the lookout for great trophy mule deer, elk, or whitetail deer. Of course, not every animal that is submitted into us is included.

Many people request a custom re-creation done of their buck or bull, even if it doesn’t make the calendar. Unfortunately the only way we can do the re-creation is if it qualifies and is included in a King’s Calendar. We don’t do additional “side job” type work with our re-creations.

How Much Do You Pay To Be In Your Calendar?

We don’t pay any cash money for the heads that we feature and include in our King’s Calendars. If you have a huge buck or bull that you would like featured, but require money for us to do it, then we will be unable to feature any of your heads in our calendars.

If you have a big mule deer, elk or whitetail deer and are interested in what possibilities there might be for calendar inclusion and a custom re-creation, please contact David King at 435-462-1334 Ext. 200.

The ‘Magnificent Seven’ has stirred many a story and been the cause for many people losing money on bets with their friends. The Magnificent Seven started as a dream and passion of the magnificent mule deer and turned out to be a dream come true to any mule deer lover. Many people have offered to pay big money to hunt in this area or to know of its location.

The Magnificent Seven was created in 1996 and features some of the biggest mule deer that have ever walked the earth. Re-created using photos of the actual harvest or mounted heads, along with ‘live body’ photos and a great background photo taken in southern Utah, the Magnificent Seven came to life. Like a painter with his canvas and imagination, the print was created using computer technology and great pains were taken to assure accuracy and authenticity. All of the bucks you see are real bucks that once roamed the hills, and thanks to the Magnificent Seven, our dreams of seeing the ‘big one’ are closer to reality.

Here is an excerpt from creator Robert King about the inspiration to the Magnificent Seven Print:

The story behind the Magnificent Seven all started around 1995. While I was mustering up big buck heads for the first ever King’s Calendar, I marveled at the awesome feeling it must have been for the hunter to have harvested such a trophy animal.

One evening while over at my good friends house Dennis Wintch, one of the greatest mule deer hunters of our time, our conversation turned to the many mule deer heads hanging on his wall. He asked if they were all standing on a ridge at the same time, which one would I shoot? Boy, what a tough choice!

This is where it all began. I started plotting out the picture of how I wanted it to look. I knew that I would need a perfect backdrop. Seeing that the desert country was my favorite big buck habitat and most of the huge heads that I had been collecting came from the “low country”, I decided that the perfect backdrop would have to come from that type of terrain.

Not long after I told Dennis Wintch of my thoughts about the picture I wanted to create, he told me he would keep his eyes open for a good background picture. Now knowing that there weren’t too many people that spent more time in the field than he, I knew that the odds were in my favor. Many months went by and still no perfect backdrop picture. That is until Dennis called me one night and said ‘I’ve got it!” He went on to tell me that he was coyote hunting over the weekend and was driving down the road when the sun came through a hole in the cloud and shot down on a sandstone cliff. He quickly ran over to a spot where he could take a picture and captured the “shot of a lifetime”. He said the sun shown through he clouds for only a few minutes before it disappeared again behind the early morning clouds.

Finally, I had the backdrop picture I needed. Now the real work began. After weeks of computer work, the piece was finished. The result as the say, is history.

-Robert King

The process was first developed by founder Robert King in early 1990s. He looked to bring back to life – in photographic form – some of the huge bucks and bulls that had been taken by hunters using the computer. The basic concept or meaning of the word “re-creations” as far as our calendar images are concerned is where we have taken the antlers from a record class mule deer, elk, or whitetail deer. Using the computer, the antlers are “re-created” or super-imposed back on a live body of a deer or elk. The goal is to showcase the animal in live form just as if a photographer was able to get a photo of the animal out in the field.

The re-creation images are not “real” and we try hard to educate and tag our re-creation/calendar images as such. But the antlers and body photography are real. This is the reason for our image protection code implemented in our Re-creation Archive section of the web site. All of the images in our King’s Calendars are custom re-creations. Every animal that is featured, is from a legit deer or elk and are from fair chase animals that have either been taken by a hunter, found dead, or sheds that have been picked up.

Many of the heads we have featured are currently state records and even world records. King’s is known for featuring the biggest animals in the world, and through our custom re-creation process, we continue to release 36 new images each year from the biggest animals taken each year or old ones discovered in a basement from years past.

Currently, King’s has over 350 re-creation images in our archives. Our first calendar featuring re-creations was the 1996 King’s Mule Deer Calendar. This calendar was released in the summer/fall of 1995.

King’s re-creations can also be found in our King’s Prints. These prints, like the Magnificent Seven, are a compilation of re-creations combined with a beautiful backdrop photo. Again, the antlers are all from legit, record class mule deer but the print itself is not a real photograph.
